Muay Thai - I miss you old friend

Training in Muay Thai was transformative for me. It got me excited about exercise again. I went from 207 pounds to 167 pounds. It helped me quit smoking. Muay Thai literally changed my life.

I recently took a trip to New York and met up with my instructor. I really miss the gym there, the group of people I trained with are an amazing bunch. My instructor has boundless energy and has the most passion for Muay Thai of anyone I've ever met.

I've been working out 5 to 6 times a week. Running about 4 miles and doing a lot of push ups, crunches, and other exercise. It's just not the same.

I talked to a guy in San Jose who runs a school down there. He told me:

" If you've been training for a while, once you start it's impossible to give it up. You'll start to feel like a caged tiger."

I'm excited that I'm going to start training again in the very near future. I've found a gym near my house.

As soon as I get my next paycheck. I'm signing up. Hopefully by Monday, I'll be hitting a heavy bag again.

Is there anything you used to do that made your life better?

yes! this is something i can understand. an active lifestyle (whether you are doing ultra marathons or muay thai or mountaineering) can change your outlook on life. you think differently and live differently.

enjoy the martial arts! and i love your friends' quote about the "caged tiger."
